Welding & Pipeline Inspector (CWI / API 1169)
Compressor Station Location: Wisconsin
Duration: June - October
Project Overview Epcon Partners is seeking a qualified Welding Inspector with CWI and API 1169 certifications to support a compressor station construction project. The inspector will be responsible for ensuring all welding, piping, and mechanical installations meet applicable codes, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of structural and pressure piping welds in accordance with AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3/B31.8, and applicable client specifications
- Monitor and document all welding activities including preheat, interpass temperature, and PWHT compliance
- Review and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Qualification Records (WQR/PQR)
- Coordinate NDE activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) and review radiographic and inspection reports
- Conduct pipeline integrity inspections per API 1169 standards including mainline, tie-in, and station piping
- Ensure materials, fittings, and components meet MTRs and project specs prior to installation
- Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and photographic documentation
- Interface with client QA/QC representatives, project management, and third-party inspectors
Required Qualifications
- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- Active API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector certification
- Minimum 5 years of field inspection experience on natural gas or liquids pipeline/compressor station projects
- Proficiency reading and interpreting isometric drawings, P&IDs, and project specifications
- Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.8, and OSHA safety requirements
- Ability to work independently in a field environment with minimal supervision
