Director – Construction Productivity & Performance
Location: Boise, ID / Syracuse, NY / Remote with Travel
Project Type: Large-Scale Advanced Manufacturing / Mission-Critical Construction
Position Overview
We are supporting a world-class organization delivering some of the largest and most complex construction programs in North America. These are massive, highly sophisticated projects involving multiple EPC partners, major trade contractors, and peak site workforces that can reach approximately 20,000 craft professionals.
The organization is looking to take Project Controls and construction performance management to the next level.
This is not a traditional scheduling position.
We are seeking a senior-level Project Controls / Construction Performance leader who can evaluate EPC and contractor performance at a strategic level, measure actual field productivity and earned value, identify inefficiencies, and develop strategies that improve execution across major capital projects.
On programs where construction activity can represent tens of millions of dollars per day, even small improvements in productivity, sequencing, contractor performance, or execution strategy can have a significant financial and schedule impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and lead advanced strategies for measuring construction productivity, efficiency, and EPC performance across major capital projects.
• Evaluate actual field performance against planned production, earned value, labor utilization, cost, schedule, and project milestones.
• Identify productivity losses, execution bottlenecks, inefficient work processes, and underperforming contractors or EPC partners.
• Translate project data into actionable recommendations that improve field execution and potentially eliminate days or weeks from construction schedules.
• Evaluate EPC execution strategies and provide owner-side recommendations regarding contractor performance, work sequencing, resource utilization, and overall project delivery.
• Develop meaningful KPIs and performance measurement systems that provide leadership with an accurate view of project health and field productivity.
• Work across Project Controls, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, and EPC organizations to identify opportunities for improved execution.
• Help establish state-of-the-art Project Controls and construction performance practices that can be deployed across multiple projects.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI, advanced analytics, automation, and data-driven tools, to improve forecasting, productivity measurement, and decision-making.
• Support strategic teams focused on continuously improving how major capital programs are planned, measured, and executed.
Ideal Background
The ideal candidate will come from a sophisticated Project Controls, Construction Performance, Program Controls, or Capital Projects environment and have experience working on very large EPC or construction programs.
Strong candidates may have backgrounds in advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, data centers, power generation, energy, industrial facilities, infrastructure, or other mega-project environments.
Experience with Earned Value Management, construction productivity measurement, EPC performance, cost/schedule integration, benchmarking, forecasting, performance analytics, and contractor evaluation will be highly valuable.
This position requires someone who can operate above the individual schedule or cost report and look across an entire project to determine where performance is being lost, why it is happening, and what needs to change to improve execution.
The organization is currently considering both on-site candidates and individuals who may be able to work remotely with significant travel to major project locations, including Boise, Idaho and Syracuse, New York.
