Solar Construction Project Manager
Community Solar Projects | Long-Term Contract
Location: Remote with Site Visits (Upstate New York)
Duration: 12–18 Months (Contract)
We are working with a renewable energy client seeking an experienced Solar Construction Project Manager to oversee four (4) community solar projects, each approximately 20 MW. This role will have full responsibility for project execution across multiple sites, with a strong emphasis on construction management, schedule control, and financial oversight.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on community solar experience; however, utility-scale solar experience will be considered. Solar experience is required. This position will operate primarily remotely, with periodic site visits to Upstate New York for monthly meetings and other project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall project management oversight for multiple community solar construction sites
- Lead project execution from mobilization through mechanical completion and closeout
- Manage and track project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
- Review and process purchase orders, change orders, and cost projections
- Coordinate with EPCs, subcontractors, owners, inspectors, and utility representatives
- Monitor construction schedules and ensure milestones are achieved
- Identify and mitigate project risks, cost impacts, and schedule constraints
- Support monthly reporting, progress updates, and financial summaries
- Conduct periodic site visits to support construction activities and stakeholder meetings
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Solar construction experience required
- Community solar experience preferred; utility-scale solar experience acceptable
- Strong understanding of construction project management principles
- Proven experience managing budgets, projections, POs, and change orders
- Ability to manage multiple active sites simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a remote role with periodic travel
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
