Certified Welding Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting welds, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and maintaining quality control throughout our projects across Northern California and Oregon.


Start Date: ASAP

Duration: On-going

Location: Throughout Northern California and into Oregon (travel required)


Key Responsibilities

  • Verify welding procedures and welder qualifications
  • Inspect materials before, during, and after welding operations
  • Document inspection results and maintain detailed records
  • Identify welding defects and recommend corrective actions
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality control standards
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and welders to resolve issues
  • Generate comprehensive inspection reports


Requirements

  • Valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in welding inspection
  • Knowledge of welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, etc.)
  • Experience with various welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Willingness to travel throughout Northern California and Oregon
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, fabrication, or manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of quality management systems
  • Familiarity with digital inspection tools and software


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
  • Capacity to work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor)
  • Visual acuity necessary for detailed inspection work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
