Job Title: Construction Manager / Project Manager – Community Solar Projects

Location: Travel-Based Role (Projects across IL, NM, CO, MN, and more)

Employment Type: 18-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire)

Travel: Weekly Travel Required


Job Description:

We are partnering with a leading solar developer to hire a Construction Manager / Project Manager to oversee a growing portfolio of community solar projects (3–5 MW in size) across multiple U.S. states. With over 40 projects planned, this individual will play a key role in ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.


This is a travel-based role with weekly site visits to active projects in Illinois, New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota, and other locations as needed. The initial contract is 18 months, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities for multiple community solar projects (3–5 MW).
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Travel weekly to project sites to monitor progress, enforce safety and quality standards, and resolve issues.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; proactively identify and mitigate risks or delays.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, including site reports, progress photos, change orders, and punch lists.
  • Support project commissioning, close-out, and handover to operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, permits, and client specifications.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in solar construction, with a focus on project or construction management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different geographies.
  • Strong understanding of community solar or distributed generation projects (3–5 MW range preferred).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel weekly to various project sites across multiple states.
  • Proficiency with construction management tools and software a plus (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Excel).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
