Chief Dual Certified Welding and NACE Inspector


Job Summary: The Chief Dual Certified Welding and NACE Inspector is responsible for overseeing and conducting inspections of welding operations and corrosion control systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications. This position requires dual certification in welding inspection and NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) coating inspection.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct thorough inspections of welding projects, including structural, pipeline, and pressure vessel fabrication, to verify compliance with welding codes and standards.
  • Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder performance qualifications to ensure adherence to project requirements.
  • Inspect welding materials, consumables, and equipment to verify conformance with specified standards and project specifications
  • Inspect surface preparation, coating application, and installation of corrosion protection systems for structures, pipelines, and equipment, ensuring compliance with NACE and industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and any necessary corrective actions for welding and coating operations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, welding engineers, contractors, and coating applicators to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Interpret and enforce applicable welding codes (e.g., AWS, API, ASME), NACE standards, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to verify that identified issues have been addressed and corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to welding and coating inspectors, ensuring consistent application of codes and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant welding codes, NACE standards, and industry best practices through continuous education and training.


Qualifications:

  • Dual certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and NACE Coating Inspector.
  • Extensive experience in conducting welding and coating inspections in various industries, such as oil and gas, construction, and manufacturing.
  • Thorough knowledge of welding codes (e.g., AWS, API, ASME), NACE standards, and industry best practices related to welding and corrosion control.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Familiarity with surface preparation techniques, coating materials, and application methods for corrosion protection systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications and software related to inspection and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.


Certifications: Dual certifications are required: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and NACE Coating Inspector.
