Buyer – Contract Position
We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to support strategic sourcing and purchasing activities for a large-scale operation. This role will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, in alignment with project and organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in purchasing, vendor management, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source goods and services in a cost-effective manner, aligned with category and project strategies.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Supply Chain, Project Managers, Accounting, Warehousing, and IT to resolve purchasing and system issues.
- Act as a key liaison for resolving supplier, payment, and purchasing system matters.
- Lead and support purchasing projects of varying complexity.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders on preferred suppliers and cost-effective alternatives.
- Monitor market conditions and supplier trends to anticipate changes in pricing and lead times.
- Initiate and manage RFP/RFQ processes; evaluate bids and make award recommendations.
- Issue and manage purchase and release orders in accordance with company policies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive process improvements.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement efforts related to systems (e.g., SAP), data quality, and procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of purchasing activities.
- Analyze supplier performance and support supplier relationship management efforts.
- Participate in team meetings, report on procurement-related impacts, and contribute to ongoing training and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Knowledge of procurement processes including RFx, P2P (procure-to-pay), and supplier management.
- Understanding of Incoterms, payment terms, and tax jurisdiction considerations is a plus.
