Senior Construction Manager – Electric Transmission


Location: Northwest U.S. – Multiple Project Sites

Project Type: High-Voltage Electric Transmission

Project Value: $100MM–$500MM+

Schedule: Field-Based / Project Dependent


Compensation: Competitive ST/OT + Per Diem/Mileage as applicable


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to provide owner-side field leadership and construction oversight for large-scale electric transmission projects throughout the Northwest.


This individual will oversee construction activities across multiple work fronts, coordinating EPC contractors, engineering teams, environmental and land stakeholders, and utility operations to ensure projects are executed safely and in accordance with schedule, budget, quality, and contractual requirements.



The ideal candidate will bring extensive electric utility construction experience with a strong background in high-voltage transmission line projects, preferably in the 230 kV–500 kV range.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide owner-side construction management and daily field oversight for large-scale transmission projects valued at $100MM–$500MM+.
  • Oversee transmission line construction activities across geographically dispersed project work fronts.
  • Coordinate EPC contractors, subcontractors, engineering firms, environmental teams, land/right-of-way stakeholders, and utility operations.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, schedule, cost, quality, productivity, and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain a strong field presence and promote compliance with utility and project safety standards.
  • Review construction schedules, progress, forecasts, and critical-path activities.
  • Identify field issues, construction risks, and potential schedule impacts and drive timely resolution.
  • Support contract administration, change management, RFIs, claims, and scope coordination.
  • Monitor construction quality and ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, utility standards, and approved procedures.
  • Coordinate construction interfaces with existing utility infrastructure and operating facilities.
  • Support commissioning, energization, turnover, punch-list completion, and final project closeout.
  • Provide regular field reporting on safety, construction progress, schedule, cost, quality, risks, and outstanding issues.
  • Serve as a primary field representative for the utility owner throughout construction.


Qualifications

  • 15+ years of electric utility construction experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience with high-voltage transmission line construction, ideally 230 kV through 500 kV.
  • Demonstrated experience managing field construction activities on major transmission projects exceeding $100 million.
  • Previous experience representing a utility owner or owner's organization during construction.
  • Strong knowledge of transmission construction practices, field execution, safety, quality, and utility standards.
  • Experience coordinating EPC contractors, engineering firms, environmental compliance, land/right-of-way stakeholders, and utility operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, contract administration, and change management.
  • Experience supporting utility commissioning, energization, turnover, and project closeout.
  • Ability to operate independently and provide leadership across multiple geographically dispersed work fronts.
  • Strong communication, documentation, problem-solving, and field leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Northwest based on project requirements.
