Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Project Managers to support the development and construction of power generation facilities supplying electricity to large-scale data centers. These projects are focused on delivering reliable power through a combination of natural gas generation, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, and other distributed energy technologies.
The Project Manager will oversee projects from engineering and planning through construction, commissioning, and turnover, coordinating with engineering teams, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful execution.
This is a remote-based position with travel to project sites during critical phases and key milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage power generation projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final turnover.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall execution to ensure successful delivery.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and construction teams.
- Provide oversight of natural gas generation, turbines, reciprocating engines, battery storage, solar, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Monitor construction progress, identify potential delays or risks, and develop corrective action plans.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, equipment procurement, and contractor coordination.
- Ensure contractors adhere to project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate site visits during major construction activities, equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and startup.
- Track project costs, schedules, change orders, and contractor performance.
- Provide regular project updates and reporting to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Support commissioning, energization, startup, and final project turnover.
Required Qualifications
- Experience managing construction projects within the power generation, energy infrastructure, or distributed energy sectors.
- Strong understanding of power generation equipment and systems, including natural gas generators, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, or similar technologies.
- Experience overseeing EPC contractors, engineering teams, equipment vendors, and construction activities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, and construction milestones.
- Familiarity with electrical infrastructure, interconnections, and power distribution systems.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work remotely while traveling to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microgrids, distributed generation, or behind-the-meter power generation projects.
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar generation, or hybrid power facilities.
- Previous experience supporting power generation projects for data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
- Experience with natural gas-fired generation facilities, including turbine or reciprocating engine installations.
- Background managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working in an owner's representative or EPC project management capacity.
